M. HIRSCH & CO. are dry goods and notion merchants, of Murfreesboro, Tenn. The firm is composed of Moses Hirsch, resident partner, and Joseph Franklin, of Nashville, and the business was established in January, 1884, Mr. Hirsch having active management and control. They carry a fine line of goods pertaining to their business and have a dress making department in connection. Mr. Hirsch is a well-known business man and a native of the city. He was born March 9, 1839, and is a son of Henry Hirsch, of Murfreesboro (see sketch). Moses was reared with his parents and secured an ordinal business education. At the age of fourteen he began his career as clerk in the mercantile establishment of his uncle, E. Rosenfeld, continuing with him and A. Tobias & Bro. until January, 1884, when he engaged in his present business as above stated. He is unmarried, a Democrat in politics, and is a wide-awake young business man of the city.
