Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

WILLIAM H. CORBIN was born in Harrison County, Ky., May 25, 1821. He was the eldest of three children born to John and Pollie (Sidney) Corbin. John Corbin was born in Culpeper County, Va., and was a son of Benjamin and Nancy (Kendrick) Corbin, natives of Virginia; they moved to Kentucky at an early date, settled in Harrison County, and afterward moved to Boone County, where they lived and died. Pollie Sidney was born in Harrison County. John Corbin was a farmer by occupation, followed the same all his life, and he and his wife both died in Boone County. William H. Corbin was brought up on the farm, and received his education from the common schools. He has followed farming from boyhood, and has also traded extensively for many years. He has a farm of forty acres of valuable land, besides some valuable town property in Florence. January 5, 1854, he was married to Nancy A. Springer, a daughter of Mynard and Rosana (Shaw) Springer, natives of Kentucky. To this union ten children have been born — five daughters and five sons, viz.: Mary C., Adeen, Marcelean, Thomas, Archie, Edward, Julius, Lillie, James and Viola. Mr. and Mrs. Corbin are members of the Baptist Church. Politically Mr. Corbin is a Democrat.
