The tombstone and grave site of Earle H. Hagen. While the name of Earle Hagen is not widely known, you are likely very familiar with his musical creations. Along with Herbert Spencer, Hagen wrote the tune known as The Fishin' Hole which is the theme song of The Andy Griffith Show. It was Hagen himself who whistled the tune that is heard at the beginning of each episode. Hagen later stated the song was written in only fifteen minutes. In addition, Hagen also wrote the theme songs for a number of other popular television series including I Spy, Make Room For Daddy, Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, That Girl, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and The Mod Squad. In 2000, Hagen's autobiography was published: Memoirs of a Famous Composer Nobody Ever Heard Of.

Earle Hagen was born July 9, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois and died May 26, 2008 in Rancho Mirage, California. Hagen is buried in Desert Memorial Park Cemetery, Cathedral City, California. The inscription on Hagen's tombstone reads "An Inspiration To Many, You Will Be Loved and Missed Forever." See the additional photo below.
