J. F. Inman, farmer and stock dealer, was born March 25, 1835, in Maury County, Tenn., and is one of three surviving sons of a family of nine children born to Abraham and Melissa (Branch) Inman, who were also born in Maury County. Inman’s early days were spent on his father’s farm, where he resided until twenty-six years of age. He then married and his parents lived with him the balance of their lives. In 1860 he married Martha A. Buchanan, who was born in North Carolina, and reared principally in Obion County. They became the parents of three sons and four daughters. In 1873 Mr. Inman became the owner of his present fine farm of 212 acres, the same farm which was settled by William Caldwell, one of the old pioneer settlers of the county. Mr. Inman also has another farm in District No. 5. He and family are members of the Methodist Church, and he belongs to the F. & A. M. He is a Democrat in his political views.
