Below is a family biography included in The History of Obion County, Tennessee published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. E. N. Moore is a son of James A. Moore, who was born in North Carolina, and came to Williamson County, Tenn., when quite young. They afterward moved to Maury County, and here James A. married Eliza Hanks, who was born in that county, and by her became the father of ten children, five sons and one daughter of whom are living. The father was a mechanic, and followed bridge building as his principal occupation. In 1870 he came to Obion County, and here died, in December, 1879. The mother is still living. Their son, E. N. Moore, was born in Maury County, April 21, 1845, and made his home with them until the commencement of the war, when he joined the First Tennessee Cavalry (Wheeler’s), and remained with it until the close of the war. After his return home he, in 1867, married Jennie Cannon, of Maury County. They have eight children— seven sons and one daughter. In 1870 Mr. Moore located on his present farm, a tract of 154 acres, and is doing well financially. He belongs to the Baptist Church, and is politically a Democrat.
