Below is a family biography included in The History of Fayette County, Tennessee published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Hudson Harris, a well known farmer of Fayette County, Tenn., was born in Anson County, N. C., March 1, 1828, and is the son of Turner and Jane (Webb) Harris, both natives of North Carolina, and of English descent. The father was born in 1807, and died in Fayette County in 1865. The mother was a few years younger and died in the same county in 1846. They married in North Carolina in 1825, and in 1834 settled in Hardeman County, Tenn., and two years later moved to Fayette County and settled sixteen miles southwest of Somerville, where they died. They were both Missionary Baptists, and the father was a farmer all of his life and a Democrat. Our subject was the second of eight children. He was but six years old when his parents moved to Tennessee; he was well educated, and commenced farming at an early age. In 1853 he purchased a farm in Fayette County, and the next year moved to it and has since then been actively engaged in farming and now owns over 400 acres in Fayette County, and a large water-mill on the North Fork of Wolf River, a cotton-gin, etc. August 6, 1850, Mr. Harris was married to Jane Williams, who was born in Fayette County, Tenn., January 4, 1833, and they have had five sons and three daughters; one of each has died. Mr. and Mrs. Harris are worthy members of the Missionary Baptist Church. They are useful members of society and stand well in their community.
