G. A. Reichardt, farmer and stock raiser, residing in Fayette County, Tenn., was born in Prussia, August 20, 1847, and, is the only one living of two sons and two daughters, born to August and Willimine (Brauer) Reichardt, who were natives of Prussia, and married there and farmed until 1854, when they moved with their four children to America, and located in Fayette County, where the father farmed until his death, April 24, 1882, seventy-two years old. The mother is still living. Our subject’s brother never married and died in 1882; the sisters were married, and they died in 1878. Mr. Reichardt married in 1871 Julia Whitaker, daughter of Isaac W. Whitaker, one of the pioneer settlers of West Tennessee. Mrs. Reichardt’s paternal grandfather was a leading spirit in the Revolutionary war. Mr. Reichardt remained at home until 1880, then located on his present farm of 600 acres four miles northwest of Somerville; he also owns 280 acres in another tract of land in Fayette County, besides a dwelling house and part interest in a business house in Somerville. By his marriage he had four children, all living. Edna Willimine, Carl August, William Edward and Frederick Earl. He is a member of the K. of H. and an F. & A. M. and a worthy member of the Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Reichardt being a Baptist. Mr. Reichardt has been a successful business man; he is strictly honest in all of his transactions and has the respect and confidence of all who know him.
