Andrew Hart, one of the most energetic citizens and farmers of the Tenth District of Dyer County, was born July 21, 1825, in Scotland, and was one of six children. His parents, Robert and Helen Hart, were both natives of Scotland. His father was a farmer, and died in 1834. Our subject was raised in Scotland, and came to Dyer County when nineteen years of age, and has since lived in the county. January 15, 1851, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Squire A. Wilkins. Mrs. Hart was born in Dyer County, in March, 1836, and died June 14, 1857. He has three children living from the union: Helen, wife of B. G. Wheeler; Mary J., wife of J. E. Wheeler, and James A. For several years before his marriage, and a few terms after, he was engaged in teaching. January, 1855, Mr. Hart located at his present residence, and owns a farm of ninety-three acres of excellent land. October, 1857, he married Mrs. J. Webster; her parents were from North Carolina. She died in March, 1859; they had one daughter, but she died. In 1860 he married Sarah C. Turner, who died in December, 1869. Three children were born to this marriage: Frances M., wife of J. T. Wheeler; Robert and Andrew. October 11, 1870, he married Sarah J. Ferrel. Mrs. Hart was born in Dyer County, September 13, 1849; they have three children living: Margaret A., Sarah E. and Charley. In 1858 he was elected magistrate, and has since held the position. Mr. Hart is an exceptionally industrious man, progressive in his ideas, and liberal with his children. He was school director for many years; he has always been a Democrat. With his wife he belongs to the Methodist Episcopal Church.
