Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. P. S. POLLOCK, retired, post office Carrick, was born in February, 1825, in Pittsburgh Pa. His paternal grandfather, a native of New Jersey, settled on Beaver river, in Beaver county, Pa., and became a wealthy farmer. Here David Pollock, the father of P. S. was born; he was a gunsmith by trade, but later in life a miller for forty years in the John Brawdy mill, on Saw-Mill run. When his children had grown to maturity he sold the property; he died in New Castle, Pa , a leading member of the Concord Church, politically a whig. His wife, nee Elizabeth Barkley, bore him six children: Joseph, John, Peter S., Silas, Alvey and Mary. P. S Pollock learned the millwrights trade, and followed it for fifteen years. He married Mrs. Agnes Brawdy, nee Aber, a daughter of Jacob Aber, an old settler. Mr. and Mrs. Pollock are members of the Presbyterian Church; he is a republican.
