Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. D. P. WHITE (deceased) was born in Boston, Mass. He resided in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was engaged in the iron business for other parties. A Pittsburgh firm buying out his interest, Mr. White removed to Pittsburgh, where he became identified with the firm of Smith & Co. for a number of years; eventually, on account of impaired health, he retired from business, removed to Sewickley in 1857, and purchased property there which is still largely in the possession of his widow. Mr. White died January 8, 1877, in the east, much beloved and esteemed. He was an attendant of the Baptist Church, and one whom nature had endowed with fine, generous qualities of head and heart. He was married to Miss Mary Jane Davis Ricker, a native of Pittsburgh, but reared and educated in Philadelphia.
