S. S. WOOD, farmer, P. O. Hamersville, was born in Clermont County, Ohio, April 14, 1844. He is a son of Absalom and Phebe Wood, the former a native of Ohio of English and German descent, and the latter a native of Kentucky, of Irish descent Our subject received a common school education, and for his life work chose the occupation of his father, farming, at which he has since continued. He was married in 1866, to Miss Mary J. Smith, a native of Clermont County, and a daughter of S. B. Smith, a prominent farmer of that county. Their union was blessed with three children, viz., Alva C., Minnie and Rosa. Mr. and Mrs. Wood are members of the Christian Church; in which he has been an Elder and Trustee. He is a Democrat in politics, and has served his district as School Director in the past. He is a practical farmer and raises, among other stock, some fine horses.
