Below is a family biography included in The History of Texas County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Robert F. Hoeck, blacksmith at Sargent, was born in Leavenworth, Kas., September 15, 1862, and is the son of Gustav Hoeck, a native of Germany, from Bealefelt, who came to America when a young man. He worked at the carpenter’s and builder’s trade at Fort Leavenworth, Kas., and while at that place chose for his companion in life Miss Arnestine Heymann, also a native of Bealefelt, Germany. Mr. G. Hoeck, in December, 1888, celebrated his thirty-third year in the Government’s service, quartermaster’s employ, as a carpenter and builder. To his marriage were born two sons and a daughter, Robert F. being the second child. He learned the trade of blacksmith at Leavenworth, Kas., and followed it there for five years. After this he spent two years in traveling all over the Union, and finally, January 4, 1886, he moved to Texas County, where he has since made his home. He was married at Sargent to Miss Mary Sieg, who was born in Germany. One daughter, Bertha, was born to this union. Mr. Hoeck is a member of the A. O. U. W. society, and he and wife are both members of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hoeck is the owner of considerable property in Cabool and vicinity, and is one of the county’s best citizens.
