Rev. Dabney B. Lynch, one of the pioneers of Texas County, and one of that county’s most prominent citizens, was born in Madison County, Ky., February 14, 1810, and is the son of David Lynch, a native of Virginia and a Revolutionary soldier, who moved to Kentucky at an early date, and in 1819 came to Missouri, settling in St. Charles County. Rev. Dabney B. Lynch came to Texas County, Mo., in 1826, where he has lived since with the exception of three years, and has probably resided in Texas County longer than any other white man. He has been a farmer all his life and a Missionary Baptist minister since 1856. September 23, 1847, he married Miss Serena McKinney, who died June 16, 1883. There was born to this union a large family of children, five of whom are now living, viz.: John H., Susan O., James S., Ervin T. and Martin W. The Lynch family are of German descent and first located in Virginia, the city of Lynchburg taking its name from this family.
