Below is a family biography included in The History of Osage County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

George B. Le Fevre was born in Crawford County, Pa., May 25, 1849, and is the eldest of the four children born to Ellis and Amanda (Anderson) Le Fevre, the former of whom, a native of near Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pa., was born in October, 1821, and died in Crawford County, Pa., in 1854, at the age of thirty-two years; he was of French descent, and was a farmer by occupation. The mother of our subject was born in Crawford County, Pa., in December, 1826. Ellis Le Fevre was a son of George Le Fevre, who was born in Pennsylvania July 19, 1795, and whose father was a native of France. George B. Le Fevre received but a limited education in the common schools of his native State, and in 1870 immigrated to Osage County, Mo., where he purchased 360 acres of land, and turned his entire attention to improving and farming the same; he now has about seventy-five acres under cultivation, and is one of the most enterprising farmers of Jefferson Township, residing eleven miles southeast of Linn. In June, 1870, Mr. Le Fevre married Theodosia Mitchell, who was born in Erie County, Pa., in September, 1836, and is a daughter of Cooper and Loraine (Hodger) Mitchell, the former of whom was born in Erie County, Pa., in 1809, where he died in October, 1858; the latter, a native of Vermont, was born December 11, 1811, and died in Erie County, Pa., in 1861. Mr. and Mrs. Le Fevre are the parents of four children, viz.: Harry, Belle, May and Jennie. Mr. Le Fevre is a Democrat in politics, and was nominated on that ticket for sheriff of Osage County in 1888, but was defeated. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and his wife is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In July, 1887, the post office of Le Boeuf was established at his residence, and his wife appointed as postmistress.
