Below is a family biography included in The History of Newton County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Martin Moster, farmer, Newton County, Mo., is the son of Joseph Moster, a native of Bavaria, Germany, a farmer by occupation, and a well-to-do man. He (Joseph) married Miss Rosanna Biko, and to them were born ten children, five of whom are now living: John, Martin, Rosanna, Magdalene and Adam. The father of this family came to America in 1842, settled on a farm in Dearborn County, Ind., and there remained the balance. of his days. When too old to work he gave his farm to his children. He died at the age of eighty-one years, a member of the Roman Catholic Church. His son, Martin, was born in Bavaria in 1824, and came to this country with his parents at the age of seventeen. He attended the excellent schools of that country for eight years, receiving a good common education. In 1848 he married Miss Catherine Carr, who bore him six children: John, Joseph, Theodore, Mary and Clara, now living, and Philip, the eldest, who died at the age of thirty years. Mr. Moster purchased a farm in Indiana, but moved to Missouri in 1874. After the death of his first wife, in 1859, he married Miss Magdalene Krigler, and to this union were born six children: Kate, Michael, Paul, Thomas, George and John, Thus, Mr. Moster has been the father of twelve children, all of whom lived to maturity. He is a Democrat in his political principles, is an upright, honorable man, and an industrious and prudent farmer.
