L. A. Young, M. D., was born in Sangamon County, Ill., April 16, 1859, and is a son of Hiram J. and Mary A. (Merriman) Young. The father was born in Kentucky, and was a wagon maker by occupation, but in after life turned his attention to agricultural pursuits. Dr. L. A. Young spent his early life on a farm, and followed that occupation for several years. He then began studying medicine, and after attending college graduated with the degree of M. D. He also formed a taste for dentistry, and for some time has been successfully following that profession, having proved himself a skillful and scientific operator. He also gives considerable attention to the science of electricity, and as a professional man ranks among the first in the county. He was married March 12, 1881, to Miss Cora I. Glassford.
