Dr. J. S. Lindley, physician and surgeon at Neosho, Newton Co., Mo., was born in Izard County, Ark., February 11, 1860, and is the son of James M. and Sarah M. (Feltz) Lindley, both natives of North Carolina. Of the seven children born to their marriage, J. S. is the fifth child. The father was a carpenter and contractor by occupation, and in 1860 he and his family left North Carolina and immigrated to Arkansas, where J. S. was reared, and here assisted his father on the farm. He secured a good education at the State University at Fayetteville, and at the Collegiate Institute at LaCrosse, Ark., where he was engaged in teaching school for some time, meeting with unusually good success. He then read medicine, with Dr. T. J. Woods as preceptor, and attended medical lectures at Nashville, Tenn., and at the University at Louisville, graduating from the latter institution in the class of 1887-88. Dr. Lindley is a young physician of promise, and is devoted to his profession. He is a Royal Arch Mason.
