George W. Judd, who resides on Section 16, Newtonia Township, was born in Vermilion County, Ill., July 18, 1851, and is the son of John and Arbell (Adams) Judd. The father was born in Kentucky, and was a farmer by occupation; his ancestors, as far back as is known, were natives of Kentucky. His son, George W., is the eldest of a family of seven children, six sons and a daughter. He was reared and grew to manhood in Illinois, and in 1871 came to Missouri with his parents, who settled in this State. Here the father died in 1882 after an active, useful life; he was a worthy citizen, a member of the Baptist Church. George W. assisted on the farm in Missouri, and while living here married Miss Lydia J. Seronce, daughter of David and Louisa (Farmer) Seronce. To this marriage were born six children (five now living): Minnie B., Cora Louisa, Horace Everett (deceased), Charlie Thomas, Mary Sadie and John David. Mr. Judd is a charter member of the Newtonia Farmers’ Alliance, is a member in full standing in the Baptist Church, of which he has been an officer for a number of years, and has been road overseer of his district for some time. He is also successfully engaged in farming and stock raising.
