Below is a family biography included in The History of Newton County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. George See Wilson, farmer of Newtonia Township, Newton Co., Mo., was born in Sarcoxie, Jasper Co., Mo., August 10, 1847, and is the son of Dr. Andrew and Mary Carroll (Abston) Wilson, and the grandson of William Christian and Leah Wilson. The parents of the subject of this sketch were natives of Kanawha County, W. Va., and of Irish descent. Dr. Andrew Wilson immigrated to Missouri when a young man of twenty-seven years of age, and settled at Osceola, Osage County, where he remained till the spring of 1838, when he removed to Sarcoxie, Jasper County, where he followed the practice of his profession until the breaking out of the late Civil War, when he removed to his farm near Bower’s Mills, living there up to the time of his death, which occurred on the 20th of February, 1882. His wife followed him February 4, 1888. They had both been members of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. They had born to them twelve children, only rearing, however, seven to be grown, one of whom died in 1866, Mary Minerva, wife of Newton Holman, who lives near Labadie, Franklin Co., Mo., at which place his wife died. The other child was Dr. John Eberle Wilson, who followed the practice of his profession and was also engaged in the drug business at Peirce City, Lawrence Co., Mo., until a short time before his death, when he removed to his farm five miles east of Newtonia, Newton Co., Mo.; he died March 20, 1876. Dr. Andrew Wilson was aged seventy-three, his wife seventy-one, at the time of their deaths; they left two sons and three daughters: Augusta (wife of John Edwards, living near Sarcoxie, Jasper Co., Mo.), George S. (living near Newtonia, Newton Co., Mo.), Grace (wife of John Ellmore, of Lawrence County, on the old farm), Frank Abston and Eliza Frances (also on the old homestead in Lawrence County). George See grew to manhood in Lawrence and Jasper Counties, and in 1876 married a daughter of Col. James I. and Nancy (Huston) Tilton, formerly of Bolivar, Polk Co., but at the time of his death living near Newtonia, Newton Co., Mo. Mr. and Mrs Wilson have four children, one son and three daughters, who were named as follows: Mary Carroll, Minnie Blanche, Andrew and Wastellah Tilton. Mr. Wilson has served on the school board of his district, is a member of the Farmers’ Alliance, and he and wife belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
