Below is a family biography included in The History of McDonald County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. M. Clark Falkenbury, editor and proprietor of the Southwest Leader, was born in Mercer County, Ill., on July 19, 1861. He is a son of Don A. Falkenbury, a native of Washington County, N. Y., who removed to Washington County, Ill., in 1866. From the latter place he removed to Gainesville, Fla., his present home. M. Clark Falkenbury’s education, which, was begun in the common schools, was finished in the Central Normal College of Danville, Ind. In 1884 he went to Rogers, Benton Co., Ark., and worked at the printer’s trade until 1888, when he came to South West City and took charge of the Corner Stone printing office, which was established in 1886. He changed the name to the Southwest Leader. Mr. Falkenbury thoroughly understands the art of managing a newspaper, and his paper is a sprightly six-column folio sheet, which with proper support will become one of the leading papers of Southwest Missouri.
