John A. Price was born in Greene County, Tenn., on February 19, 1847, and is a son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Smith) Price. Abraham Price was born in Greene County, Tenn., on January 4, 1823, and is a son of John Price (deceased), who was a soldier in the War of 1812. Abraham Price and Elizabeth Smith were married on June 29, 1842, and became the parents of six children, four of whom are living, viz.: John A., Eliza P., Martha J. (Mrs. Rudolph Sieler, of Benton County, Ark.), and Sabina C. John A. Price came to McDonald County, Mo., in 1858, locating where he now resides. Here he has since made his home, except three years during the late war. He served in the Confederate army as a member of Company B, Third Missouri Cavalry, Shelby’s brigade, and was on Price’s raid. On December 16, 1884, he was united in marriage with Emma F. Chenoweth, a daughter of the late Dr. Albert W. Chenoweth, who was foully murdered by a saloon man, whose business the Doctor had injured by his aggressive warfare on the whisky cause. Mrs. Price was born during the border warfare in Kansas, in 1865. To them have been born two children, Albert A. and Thursa E. Mr. Price is a prosperous and enterprising farmer, owning 405 acres of fine land. Both he and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
