Henry A. F. Cloud circuit clerk and ex-officio recorder of McDonald County, Mo., is a native of the county, born in Elkhorn Township on March 31, 1857. He is a son of Jacob Cloud, an early settler of McDonald County, who recently removed to Nevada, Mo. Henry A. F. Cloud received a fair education in the common schools of the district in which he lived, and in the high-schools of Rocky Comfort and Harmony, Newton County, which has been greatly improved since reaching mature years by much desultory reading and close observation. He taught school for a few terms, and in 1880 was elected county assessor, which position he filled in a very satisfactory manner, and two years later was elected to his present office, being re-elected in 1886, thus proving the confidence of his constituents in his efficiency to perform the duties of public office. In January, 1883, he removed to Pineville, which has since been his home. His wife was Carrie J. Faulkner, and their marriage was celebrated on October 10, 1886. She was born in Johnson County, Mo., and is a daughter of James J. Faulkner, of Elkhorn Township, McDonald County. Mr. Cloud is a member of the Baptist Church.
