Below is a family biography included in The History of McDonald County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Dr. Andrew J. McKinney, a physician and surgeon of Tiff City, Mo., was born in Bradley County, Tenn., on May 19, 1853, and is a son of Adaniram McKinney (deceased). Our subject removed with his parents to Madison County, Mo., in 1860, and there received a good education in the common schools. He received his professional education in the Missouri Medical College of St. Louis, having graduated from the institution in 1882. Upon leaving college he located at Marquand and began practicing his profession. He, however, had practiced there two years prior to entering the medical college. In 1884 he came to Tiff City, where he has secured a large and increasing practice. Dr. McKinney is an intelligent young man and is progressive in his profession. He is a member of the Southeast Missouri Medical Society. On October 5, 1881, he was united in marriage with Mary E. Griffin, a daughter of Francis Griffin, of Fredericktown, Mo. Mrs. McKinney died on January 20, 1884, leaving two children, Ollie and William H. Dr. McKinney was married again on June 2, 1886, choosing for his wife Nellie Chase, a daughter of John R. Chase, of Newton County, Mo., and to them has been born one child, an infant son. The Doctor is a member of the I. O. O. F., and is a communicant of the Baptist Church.
