Below is a family biography included in The History of Laclede County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. George S. Warner, of Union Township, Laclede County, was born in Shelby, Orleans Co., N. Y., December 11, 1853, and is the son of Joseph B. and Lodema (Rusk) Warner, natives of Connecticut, now living in Orleans County, N. Y., at the advanced ages of eighty-nine and eighty-eight years, respectively. The parents removed to Orleans County after their marriage, where they have since lived and devoted their attention to the pursuit of agriculture. Both have been members of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. They have had eight children, four sons and four daughters, viz.: William J., a farmer of Laclede County, Mo.; Mary D., widow of William F. Parker, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Octavo, at home; Sarah, wife of Ogden Bailey, of Orleans County, N. Y.; James, a farmer of Orleans County; George S.; Francis, a farmer near Cleveland, Ohio; Antoinette, wife of Ira Howland, a farmer near Centerville, N. Y. When in his twentieth year George S. Warner was employed by the United States Express Company as a messenger between Davenport and Keokuk; he was afterward in the employ of the American Express Company from Burlington to Council Bluffs, and later worked for the Union Pacific Express Company from Cheyenne to Ogden. In 1878 he located in Laclede County, Mo., on a farm, which he had bought two years before, and which he has since successfully conducted. He now owns 236 acres of land, and has one of the finest farms in the county. March 4, 1884, Mr. Warner married Martha O’Neal, who was born in Virginia in 1864, and is a daughter of Thomas A. O’Neal. One child has blessed this union, whose name is Frances Lodema. Mr. and Mrs. Warner are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mr. Warner is also a member of the Masonic fraternity, and in politics his sympathies are with the Democratic party. He is one of the enterprising young men of Laclede County, and is deservedly popular.
