Below is a family biography included in The History of Laclede County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Hon. B. C. Jarrell came to Laclede County, Mo., from his native county of Rockingham, N. C., in 1853, and located near Lebanon, and with his brother, W. G. Jarrell, engaged in the manufacture of plug tobacco until the breaking out of the late Civil War, and in 1862 moved to the place where he now lives. He first made a purchase of forty acres of land, but is now the owner of 200 acres, 120 acres in one tract and eighty acres in the other. His birth occurred February 11, 1826, and he is a son of Jarrett and Eleanor (Lillian) Jarrell, who were of English lineage and natives of North Carolina. The father died in 1836 and the mother in 1830. B. C. Jarrell was educated in Leaksville Academy, N. C., and in the common schools of his native county. After coming west he taught school in Kentucky for some time, and in April, 1849, was married in Madison County, Tenn., to Lucy A. Lassiter, a native of North Carolina, and the daughter of Matthew Lassiter, and their union was blessed in the birth of five children: Salinda I.; William A., who married Catherine James; Mary A., wife of William T. James; Frank Lee and Martha E. Mr. Jarrell is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and in his political views supports the principles of the Democratic party, and has represented his county in the State Legislature. He has also served as surveyor, and he and family are members of the Christian Church, he being a deacon in the same.
