Below is a family biography included in The History of Jasper County, Missouri published by Mills & Company in 1883.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. E. T. WEBB, cashier Webb City Bank, the subject of this sketch, was born in Overton county, Tennessee, Aug. 24, 1851, and is the son of John C. and Ruth F. Webb. Mr. Webb came to Missouri with his parents when they located in Jasper county, and was raised and educated in the common schools of this county; he also attended the State University at Columbia in the years 1877-78-79, and from there went to the Gem City Commercial College at Quincy, Ill., where he graduated in 1879 with the highest honors of his class. Of him, Prof, D. L. Musselman, A. M., says: “He is one of our very best graduates, thorough in all branches.” After finishing his business education he returned home, and shortly after entered the county collector’s office at Carthage, where he remained two years as deputy. June 2, 1882, he went into partnership with his father and opened the Webb City Bank, of which he is now cashier. He is a member of the M. E. Church (South), a member of the A. F. & A. M. fraternity, and at present holds the office of secretary of the lodge at Webb City. He is also treasurer of the city and a member of the school board, of which body he is at present clerk. He is a young man of recognized financial ability, and an enterprising, careful business man.
