M. C. Lucky, of the firm of M. C. Lucky & Co., general merchants of Exeter, Mo., was born in Texas in 1859. He remained in his native State until 1866, when he went to Lawrence County, Mo., and remained until 1883. His early life was spent on a farm. He is highly educated. Having graduated from the State University at Columbia in 1880, he still continues his literary work with much pleasure, and takes great interest in educational work. He came to Exeter in 1883, after which he taught school for four years. He also engaged in merchandising in 1883, and has continued very successfully. The firm does a general merchandising and timber business, with a capital of $13,000. M. C. Lucky was united in marriage in 1887 with Nora McMahan, a daughter of Judge G. R. McMahan, of McDonald County, Mo. In politics Mr. Lucky is a Republican, and is a member of the I. O. O. F. and A. F. & A. M.
