ROBERT BRADSHAW, farmer and miller, two miles south of Elkton, Todd County, was born in Halifax County, Va., on the 22d day of May, 1834, and is the son of Benjamin and Lucy (Wilkinson) Bradshaw, who came from Virginia to Kentucky in 1840. They settled in the southern portion of Todd County, purchased a farm, on which Benjamin died, and where his widow is now living. They had a family of seven children, as follows: James, Robert, Joseph, Benjamin, Martha, Richard and Charles Bradshaw, the latter of whom is deceased. The subject of these lines, Robert Bradshaw, attained his manhood in this county; was reared on the farm, meantime attending the common schools. In early manhood he learned the carpenter’s trade, at which he labored for a few years, since which time he has devoted his time to agriculture, combined with which he owns and operates a flouring-mill. This mill is noticed in the history of Elkton Precinct. Mr. Bradshaw, in 1861, married Miss Fannie Link, daughter of William and Martha Link, one of the old and honored families of the county. She was born in Todd County, April 9, 1844. Their children, six in number, are as follows: Ida, Charles, Vertie, Claude, Herbert and Melrose Bradshaw. Mrs. Bradshaw and the older children are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. No mention in this work of the Bradshaw connection is necessary to establish their reputation for honor, as they are respected, wherever known, for their sterling worth as citizens.
