LOUIS N. GIROD, teacher, was born August 24, 1859, in Hopkins County, Ky. His parents were John and Sarah K. (Coffman) Girod, the father a native of France, the mother of Kentucky. The father was a merchant at Henderson, and later at Ashbysburgh, Ky. He came to this county in 1855. His death occurred in 1863, aged forty. The mother is living in Webster County, Ky. These parents had three children- Sophie A., the wife of W. H. Weir, of Hanson, Ky.; Louis N. and Charles (deceased). Mr. Girod attended public school until the age of fifteen. The next three years he clerked most of the time. He then attended school one year in Hopkinsville under Prof. Bramham. He attended at Lexington the Agricultural and Mechanical College two years, taking a special course. He then began teaching and has taught two years, giving general satisfaction. He has taught the past year with good success the High School in Kirkmansville, where he is now located. He is said to be a fine scholar and an efficient teacher, rendering good satisfaction to those concerned. He was married November 18, 1880, to Miss Nannie H. Dean, of Lexington, Ky. One bright child—Hazel Deane gladdens the home. Mr. and Mrs. Girod are members of the Christian Church. The family, Girod, in Kirkmansville is, so far as known, the only one in the United States.
