ISAAC SPILLMAN is a son of James and Nancy (Paul) Spillman, who are now aged residents of Hardin County, Ky. His father, James Spillman, was born in 1800 in Kentucky. His grandfather, Jacob Spillman, was born in Maryland and moved to Oldham County, Ky., where James was born and grew to manhood. James in early life learned the trade of a cabinet-maker, and went to Hardin County, Ky., where he followed his trade for many years, and where he now resides. He was there married in 1833 to Miss Nancy J. Paul. She was born in 1803, in Nelson County, Ky. To these parents were born five children, of whom Isaac is the third, and of whom three are now living. In 1861 he entered the Confederate Army as a Sergeant of Company F., First Kentucky Cavalry. He shared in all the vicissitudes experienced by his command with the exception of a period of imprisonment from August, 1862, to April, 1868, during which time he was held on Johnson’s Island. Since coming to Elkton in 1879, Mr. Spillman has been conducting the livery business. He was married in Muhlenburg County, Ky., in 1873, to Miss Margaret M. Morgan, daughter of Thomas Morgan and Sarah J. Morgan (nee Earl). She was born in Muhlenburg County, Ky., in 1842, and is a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
