DR. B. M. TRABUE was born at Columbia, Adair Co., Ky., June 3, 1827, and is a son of William and Elizabeth (McDowell) Trabue. Our subject’s grandparents made their escape from France, and coming to this country settled on Staten Island. They lived there some years, and then with the other early pioneers came to this State. The grandfather was captured by the Indians, but afterward escaped, and lived here until a good old age. The father was a mechanic, but did not follow his trade very much. He paid most of his attention to farming and milling. Our subject was the fifth of six children, of whom four are living. His schooling was obtained in the colleges at Frankfort and Lexington, Ky. In 1846 he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. Winston, of Columbia. Remained under his preceptor three years, and in 1848 and 1849 he attended lectures at the Transylvania University at Lexington, Ky.; returning to Columbia he followed his professional calling there until 1853. He then came to Allensville, and is now the oldest resident physician in the precinct, having a fair share of the practice of the community. Dr. Trabue was married in 1853 to Miss Fannie Sale, a daughter of Dr. L. P. Sale, formerly a resident of Logan County. Mrs. Trabue is a native of this county, and the mother of nine children, of whom eight are living-three sons and five daughters. Dr. Trabue is a member of the Allensville Baptist Church, and of Allensville Lodge, No. 182, A. F. & A. M.
