Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 8a by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1888. These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary. FRANK BAKE, of German descent, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 26, 1851; he came to Louisville in 1867, and for two and one-half years was engaged in learning the printer's trade, but in 1875 he engaged in the liquor business for himself; he was married in 1873 to Miss Anna, daughter of Herman Forsting, of this city. She died in 1882, leaving three children, and in 1885 Mr. Bake married Miss Florence Stricker, of Indiana.
