My Genealogy Hound

Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

DANIEL B. WILSON, farmer, was born, in Graves County, Ky., February 26, 1859, and is the sixth in a family of eight children —four boys and four girls—all living—born to Daniel and Caroline (Richardson) Wilson, natives of Virginia. (Fuller genealogical details are given in the sketch of Daniel Wilson above.) Our subject was fairly educated at the district schools, and at Mayfield, but was chiefly engaged on the home farm, until his marriage, December 6, 1883, to Miss Rena Leech, daughter of William and Nancy (Hughes) Leech, natives of Tennessee and Kentucky respectively, and of English extraction. Mrs. Rena Wilson for three years attended school at McKenzie, Tennessee, and is now a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wilson is a member of the Baptist Church. He is the owner of 225 acres of good land, of which 150 acres are under cultivation and furnished with good buildings. He makes a specialty of breeding short-horn cattle and Berkshire hogs and is one of the most progressive young men of his district.
