BENJAMIN F. BRIGGS, Graves County, editor of the Mayfield Monitor, was born August 27, 1848, in Sumner County, Tenn. In 1870 he commenced to learn the art of printing; three years later he established the Banner of Temperance. This paper he conducted about two years. In 1875 the Mayfield Monitor was established, and now has an extensive circulation. Mr. Briggs was married April 26, 1883, to Miss Mary Rives, of Mayfield; they have one child, a daughter. Mr. Briggs is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mrs. Briggs is a member of the Baptist Church.
