Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. CAPT. WILLIAM P. REED was born June 4, 1838, on the place where he now resides, in Fulton County, Ky. He is a son of Archibald Reed, a native of Jessamine County, Ky., who removed to Fulton County in 1828, where he died in 1873, at the age of sixty-one years. Archibald married Mary Hawkins, also of Jessamine County, and this union was blessed with the following children: Elizabeth A. (Burnett), Rosa E. (Roper), John H., Mary (Bard), Catherine, Thomas J., Sarah (Carpenter), subject, Isabelle (Pewitt) and Martha H. (Noonan). Capt. Reed was married December 17, 1868, to Miss Mary E., daughter of J. B. and Margaret (Brown) Alexander, of Fulton County (born September 25, 1849, and died May 17, 1875), and from this marriage sprang Katie E. On February 7, 1883, he married Miss Mary A., daughter of John M. and Mary E. (Turner) Milner, of Hickman County, and to them has been born William C., May 6, 1884. Subject is a successful farmer owning 210 acres of productive land. He is a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and in politics adheres to the tenets of the old line Whigs.
