W. A. EDWARDS, Ballard County, was born June 4, 1853, in Green County, Ky.; he is a son of W. A. and Elizabeth (Minton) Edwards, both of whom were born in the same State and county. The father, at the age of eighteen, secured a position in Bowling Green as deputy county clerk, remaining in this capacity several years, after which he moved to Lewis County, Mo., where he was engaged in farming, and raising and dealing in livestock about fifteen years. He then returned to Green County, Ky., and was married to the mother of our subject. This lady died in 1857, aged forty-five. At the age of nineteen our subject went to Evansville, Ind.; he was clerk there a short time and then moved to Missouri, where he was employed at railroading and telegraphing about one year. He then removed to Kansas, remaining about eight months, after which he went to Mississippi and worked at various points on the Illinois Central Railroad till 1876, when he came to Bardwell, where he has since been agent of this road at this place. He was married October 28, 1880, to Miss Lena R., daughter of the late Dr. N. C. Thomas, of Ballard County; this union has been blessed with one daughter.
