THE PENN FAMILY. William H. Penn, the progenitor of this worthy family, was born in Patrick County, Va.; lived for some years in Todd County, Ky., and came about 1835 to Ballard County, where he now resides. He married Mary A. Pollock, daughter of Goorge Pollock, of Todd County, who is still living. Their children are: William H., George P., Levi, Alfred D., Shadrach M., Jaquilon and Jacob. Alfred D. Penn was born September 23, 1840, in Todd County, Ky., and in youth came with his parents to Ballard County, where he still resides. He procured an English education, and is a reading man. On November 7, 1861, he married Miss Mary H., daughter of Richard Wyatt, of Ballard County (born in 1843), and this union was blessed by the birth of Minnie and Lenner. Our subject is a farmer, owning 327 acres of fine land, well improved. He is a member in good standing in the order of Knights of Honor, and in politics is a Democrat.
