These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. P. C. PUCKETT was born in Chesterfield County, Va., on November 16, 1829, and is a son of William and Nancy (Hood) Puckett. The parents were natives of Virginia, and of English descent. In 1837 they came to Kentucky and settled in Ballard County. The father purchased 400 acres and turned his attention to farming, and here resided until his death in 1873. The mother died in 1867. Our subject was the second of ten children, of whom six, four sons and two daughters are still living. Subject’s schooling was received in the neighborhood. He remained at home until he was nineteen, and then settled on part of his father’s farm, where he resided seven years. He then came to his present farm, where he now owns 160 acres, with 100 in cultivation. Mr. Puckett was married on June 27, 1861, to Miss Letsey A. Riley, a daughter of William Riley, of Ballard County. Six children, four of whom are now living, are the result of this union. Mr. Puckett and family are members of the Baptist Church, and he is also a member of New Retreat Lodge, No. 484, A. F. & A. M.
