Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

T. R. KENDALL was born in Harrison County, Ky., in 1849, and is a son of Newton and Ann E. (Ross) Kendall. Newton Kendall was a farmer and magistrate of Harrison County for several years. Lewis Kendall, grandfather of T. R., was a native of Virginia, but early came to Harrison County, Ky., where he was a farmer and squire of the county. Mrs. Ann E. Kendall, a native of Missouri, came to Kentucky at an early age. She was of Scotch descent and a granddaughter of the old Dr. Ross, of Lexington, Ky., a prominent man of his day. Her grandmother was Phoebe Nelson, of Harrison County, who married in 1810. T. R. Kendall was educated at the common schools in Bourbon County, and at Western University at Lexington. He settled in Grant County in 1859, has always been a farmer, and now owns 450 acres of well improved land. He also conducts a store at Sherman Station. In 1875 he married Georgie Williams, of Grant County, a daughter of Jonathan Williams, of Boone County, and Almina (Poor) Williams, of Bath County, Ky. Mr. Kendall’s wife died in 1882, leaving one child — John N. Mr. Kendall is a Democrat and a member of the Christian Church.
