E. HOGAN, stock breeder and grain speculator, was born in Grant County, Ky., July 22, 1847. He is the sixth of a family of nine born to O. P. and Sallie (Kendall) Hogan. O. P. Hogan was born in Lancaster, Garrard Co., Ky., in 1808. He represented Grant County, Ky., in the Legislature three times, was State senator one term, and was county judge of Grant County one term. He was a large hog trader, perhaps the largest that was ever in the State of Kentucky. He died October 8, 1885, a strict member of the Christian Church for forty years. He was a son of James Hogan, who was born in Virginia. Mrs. Sallie (Kendall) Hogan was born in Harrison County, Ky., and was a daughter of Lewis and Phebe (Nelson) Kendall. E. Hogan was educated at Harrodsburg and Georgetown, Ky. He has always been a great horse man, and is one of the best judges of horses in Kentucky. He was in the livery business in Williamstown for several years and was very successful. He now has a fine farm of 410 acres between Williamstown and Dry Ridge which is called the Hogan Grove Stock Farm. He makes a specialty of raising fine horses generally. He was married, December 18, 1867, to Rose Collins, of Grant County, Ky., a daughter of James N. and Cordelia (Carslinea) Collins. Four children have blessed this union, and of these, two are living: Collins K. and Charles R. Mrs. Hogan is a strict member of the Christian Church, and her father was a thirty-second degree Mason.
