ELISHA PERKINS, farmer, Section 33, P. O. Columbus, was born in Indiana April 16, 1832. He received a business education while living on the farm, and at the age of twenty-one began farming in Indiana, remaining in that State until 1873, when he came to Cherokee County, Kansas, and located in Sheridan Township, on a farm of 160 acres, which he improved and ran as a grain and stock farm. After three years he sold out, went to Salamanca Township, where he took a farm of 320 acres, which he improved and is now running as a grain and stock farm. Has also a full line of all kinds of fruits. In August, 1882, Mr. Perkins, moved to Columbus, where he owns property in houses and lots, and has since been looking after his personal business. He is a member of the Christian Church, and was married to Miss Zerelda Gates, of Indiana, in 1852. They have ten children living— Harriette, Ellen, Mark, Rachel, William, Nancy, Louisa, Sallie, Elisha; Orlena, deceased.
