McGRANAHAN, JOHN, farmer, Sec. 27; P. O. Indianola; born April 16, 1827, in the State of Pennsylvania, and was raised in Crawford county; came to this county in December, 1868, but previous to his settling in this county he went to California, in 1849, and remained for two years; he went by team, and was about six months crossing the plains; he returned by way of Central America; he made his trip a success; he was married in Pennsylvania, to Miss. R. P. Gray, a native of that State, Jan. 31, 1855; they have four sons and three daughters: George E., James, Ralph, Frank, Carrie, Maggie and Eva; he has held various township offices; owns an improved farm of 109 acres.
