The Strauss Dry Goods Company, incorporated under the state laws of Iowa, is conducting a large and prosperous business at the corner of Montgomery and Maple streets in Creston. They are successors to C. L. Ballard and since September, 1905, the company has been officered with A. Strauss as president; M. Rosenfield, vice-president; L. Rosenfield, secretary; and F. Strauss as treasurer. The business was incorporated for thirty-five thousand dollars and is the largest exclusive dry-goods house in Union county. Indeed it would be a credit to a city of much greater size and is a valued commercial enterprise of this part of the state. The president, A. Strauss, was formerly a business man of Anamosa, Iowa, while L. Rosenfield was previously located at Rock Island, Illinois. They now reside in Creston and have active management of the store, employing over twenty clerks. Both are affable, courteous, alert and enterprising business men and are winning most creditable success in the conduct of this enterprise.
