RHYNALDS, WM., J., far., Sec. 2; P. O. Salem; owns eighty acres of land, valued at $45 per acre; he was born June 1, 1835, in Quincy, Ill.; his father, John A. Rhynalds, emigrated from Nova Scotia to that place in 1826; in the fall of 1844, came with parents to Henry Co., Iowa, and located near Salem, where his father died Feb. 14, 1850, and mother, Feb. 20, 1848; he remained on the home farm till 1852, when he came into Lee Co.; since has lived in Cedar Tp., except three years in Marion Tp.; came to his present farm in 1876. He married Lavina Bond, of Lee Co, Iowa, Aug. 27, 1854; she was born Oct. 21, 1834, in Randolph Co, Ind., has eight children living — John B., Melinda C., Eva R., Mary E., Marshall J., Albert W., Charles E., Elijah A.; lost two — Jesse M. and Irilla J. Member of the M. E. Church; Republican.
