THOMAS BECKWITH, a native of the township and county in which he yet resides, was born October 20, 1840, and is a son of William and Catharine (Kimmel) Beckwith, who were parents of these children: Martha, Joseph, Mary A., John, Thomas, Catharine, William, Larkin, Caroline, Eli and Sarah. The parents were natives of the Hoosier State, of German descent, and were among the early pioneers of Warrick County. Thomas Beckwith is one of the county’s self-made men, as he began life’s battle with little or no means at his command, and by economy, hard work, and with the assistance of his wife, who has bravely assisted in bearing the burden of work and economy, has secured a good home and a well-improved farm of 120 acres. August 9, 1863, he was united in marriage with Miss Charlotte E. Stubbs, who was born June 14, 1847, daughter of Robert and Mary (Carter) Stubbs, natives of Kentucky and England, respectively. This union has been fruitful, and two children have blessed them, named Sarah E. and Mary E., the former being a wife. Mr. Beckwith is a Democrat in politics, and an esteemed citizen of the county.
