Below is a family biography included in Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Nevada County, Arkansas published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1890.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. George W. Vaught, farmer of Nevada and Columbia Counties. His home being on the boundary line, Mr. Vaught says “he eats in Nevada County, Alabama Township, and sleeps in Columbia County, Lambertine Township.” He was born October 17, 1856, in Blount County, Tenn., and is a son of John R. and Rebecca Vaught, natives of Tennessee, the father born in 1808, and of Irish descent. He was a farmer by profession and moved to Arkansas, locating in Woodruff County, where he lived until his death, which occurred in 1880. The mother is living at the present time, and was born about 1823. To them were born eight children, viz.: Andrew P., Melinda C, Lorenzo, John C, Christian Clark, Molly, Hettie A., George W. and Jefferson Davis. George was reared in Tennessee, leaving home in 1872 and going to Indian Territory, where he remained only six months, then moving to Texas, where he stayed fifteen years. In 1889 he located in Arkansas on his present estate. He was married on July 2, 1883, to Miss Alice Steele, who was born in 1865, and is a daughter of Col. W. T. Steele, of Nevada County. They have one child, Thomas M. Mrs. Vaught is a devout and faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church; Mr. Vaught is an ardent Democrat, and an exceedingly prosperous and highly esteemed citizen of this county.
