Lakewood, New Jersey, Georgian Court, Residence of George Gould, vintage postcard, historic photo

A vintage postcard view of Georgian Court, the Residence of George Gould, Lakewood, New Jersey. George Gould (born 1864, died 1923), was the son of financier Jay Gould. George Gould at one time controlled several railroads including the Missouri Pacific Railroad; West Pacific Railroad; and Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Gould died at the age of 59 of pneumonia soon after visiting the newly discovered tomb of Tutankamen. His death, among others, is considered by some to be evidence of a "Curse of the Pharaohs." Gould's home, Georgian Court, is now the site of Georgian Court University.

This postcard view was postmarked in 1914.
