Indian Cemetery, Baraga County near Baraga and L'anse, Michigan, vintage postcard, historic photo

A vintage postcard view of the Indian Cemetery, Baraga County near Baraga and L'anse, Michigan. Each grave has a small house or cabin built over it. These are known as "Spirit Houses" and were constructed by the Ojibwe (Chippewa) tribe across the Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada region. Similar structures are also at some cemetery locations in Alaska. Note: This same view exists on several different postcards, each showing it at a different location. The cemetery shown on this card is actually the Pentoga Park Cemetery, Iron County, on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This vintage postcard view is from 1932.
