The Soldiers and Sailors Home at Quincy, Illinois was originally opened in 1887 as a home for veterans of the Mexican War and the American Civil War. It later began accepting veterans of all wars. Beginning in 1908, the wives, mothers, and daughters of veterans were also accepted. The veterans home, now known as the Illinois Veterans Home - Quincy, continues to operate at this same location. Also on the grounds is Sunset Cemetery where over 7,000 veterans and their spouses are buried. The All Wars Museum is also located here.

Quincy is the county seat of Adams County, Illinois.
