Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Soldiers' National Monument, photos
The Soldiers' National Monument in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania National Military Park. This monument is bordered by the graves of more than 6,000 American servicemen from a number of wars. This was originally established as a cemetery for Union Civil War soldiers with 3,580 Union Soldiers buried here. The names of almost half of the Civil War soldiers buried here are unknown. This 60 foot tall monument was dedicated July 1, 1869 and is located very near the location of where President Abraham Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address, just six years before, on November 18, 1863.
